The Project
The project is simple: find a deserving family every year, beginning this year, and present them
with a hand-painted portrait of the service member they wish to memorialize. The portrait will be
given to the family on or around Memorial Day. These families are affected everyday by the loss
of their hero. I, as an artist and a patriot, cannot think of a better way to pay my respect to those
who have sacrificed their lives to protect the lives and liberties that we hold so dear. Although
the service member may have passed, a simple portrait can help future generations remember the
hero’s story, one story at a time.
In order to accomplish this task, I am asking that family and friends of service members who
died in or as a result of combat since 2001 to fill out the submission under the “submit a hero”
tab or by using the button at the bottom of this page. All submissions will be reviewed by my
team of dedicated volunteers. We will pick a deserving family in mid-to-late April. At that point
we will reach out for reference images and I will begin to paint the hero’s portrait. When the
portrait is complete, I will travel and present the portrait to the selected family.
